Gregg Perkins was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and currently resides in Tampa, Florida. He received a BA in philosophy, and an MFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His work combines film, video, photography, and historical research and questions how the fictional can alter the construction of cultural and social narratives. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, recently appearing at Bleu Acier Gallery, Tampa, FL, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and a current exhibition at the St Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, FL. His films have screened at the Dallas, Sarasota, SoundUnseen and Wisconsin Film Festivals. His writing has appeared in Coterie, New Art Examiner, ArtUS, TimeOut Chicago, Artforum.com, and The Miami Rail. He has taught studio art and art history at the University of Wisconsin, and has been a guest faculty in the graduate painting division at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. He is an Associate Professor of Film Animation and New Media at The University of Tampa.
